My practice is devoted exclusively to divorce, post-divorce and family law issues. Among my practice areas are:
- Prenuptial Agreements.
- Marital Agreements.
- Co-Habitation Agreements.
- Parental Responsibility Issues (including the allocation of parental decision-making for children and the determination of parenting time).
- Disputes Concerning the Relocation of Children.
- Child Support (and many other financial issues concerning children).
- Division of Assets (including the analysis and appropriate treatment of complex or significant assets).
- Property Settlements.
- Maintenance (known in some jurisdictions as alimony).
- Debt Allocation.
- Post-Divorce Modification Issues.
- Litigation (including hearings and trials).
While many cases will involve the same issues, the outcome of each case will be influenced by the particular facts and circumstances presented, how the law is interpreted and applied, who the attorneys are, how the case is handled, the strengths (or weaknesses) of relevant evidence, and the personalities of the parties.
I work with clients to identify significant issues and analyze the options that are realistically available, taking into account a number of factors. We review the pros and cons of each option in order to determine which one is the most appropriate.
While I give advice and recommendations, my client will make the final decision as to significant substantive matters.
In resolving disputes, I encourage clients to take reasonable steps to achieve a fair and appropriate settlement "out of court" but only if it is possible to do so effectively and in a way that protects the client's interests. If the parties and their attorneys cannot reach such a settlement on their own, there are other options, such as mediation and/or arbitration, that should be explored. If those alternatives are not successful, or cannot be agreed upon, and if going to court makes sense (practically, legally and economically) then I work with my client to prepare and implement the most effective litigation strategy possible.
